Van Duong Thanh Fine Arts Museum was officially recognized and established by the Ministry of Culture and interdisciplinary ministries 2023, or 20 years of preparing the collection. Duong Bich Lien (17/07/1924 – 12/12/1988) is a Vietnamese artist born in Hanoi into a family of intellectuals and mandarins. He was the second son of a government official (he has a brother and a sister, a younger brother). His original hometown is Phu Thi village, General Me So, Khoai Chau district (Now it is Phu Thi village, Me So commune, Van Giang district, Hung Yen province). He is known as one of the group of four masterpieces of the Vietnamese painting industry including Nghiem, Lien, Sáng, Phai.

Comes from a powerful and wealthy family, but five 17 year old, he became interested in art, came up with the desire to give up a wealthy life to follow a windy life and experience a life immersed in art. Duong Bich Lien is one of the last students of Indochina College of Fine Arts. He studied at the Faculty of Painting, XVIII (1944-1945).

Year 1946, Duong Bich Lien and many Hanoi intellectuals and artists participated in the resistance war against the French.
