Duong Bich Lien is a Vietnamese artist born in Hanoi into a family of intellectuals and mandarins. He was the second son of a government official (he has a brother and a sister, a younger brother). His original hometown is Phu Thi village, General Me So, Khoai Chau district, Hung Yen province. He is one of a group of four masterpieces of the Vietnamese painting industry including Nghiem, Interlock, Bright, Sect.
Comes from a powerful and wealthy family, but five 17 year old, he became interested in Painting, came up with the desire to give up a wealthy life to pursue a life of wind and dust and experience a life of being immersed in painting and loneliness for the rest of his life., Duong Bich Lien is one of the last students of Indochina College of Fine Arts. He studied at the Faculty of Painting, XVIII (1944-1945). Afterward, He participated in the resistance war against the French and worked in Pham Van Khoa's theater troupe as well as worked as a journalist “National Guard”
Duong Bich Lien spends a lot of time making art to research styles, world art movement.
