Paintings by disadvantaged kids to be sold in TV auction |
The children live at open houses and charity centres, including the Chap Canh House, Da Thien School and Hy Vong Centre for disabled children. Popular painter Van Duong Thanh will direct the children to help them produce the two 3m by 5m artworks. Including in the large pieces will be seven smaller works, with themes on community sharing, landscape, springtime and the Tet holiday.

TV stations in provinces, including Binh Duong, Hau Giang, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, will also broadcast the auction. "We want to support community development, especially the growth of the younger generation," says Dang Thu Ha, a division director at Unilever Viet Nam. Unilver is working with HCM City Television, the Association Supporting the Disabled and Orphans on the TV show, called Joining Hands for a Poor Children’s Tet. "We have a special interest in supporting educating children on humane values and Vietnamese traditions of assisting people with difficulties," she said.
