Được biết đến là một trong những họa sĩ tài năng của Châu Á, Văn Dương Thành lớn lên ở Hà Nội và học 12 năm tại Đại học Mỹ thuật Việt nam. Bà đã nghiên cứu tại Viện Nghiên cứu Văn hóa, Bộ Văn hóa từ năm 1981 đến 1987. Giờ đây, bà giành thời gian dạy học và làm việc tại hai nơi Thụy Điển và Hà Nội. Các tác phẩm của bà đã được Bảo tàng Quốc gia Việt Nam sưu tập lần đầu tiên khi 20 tuổi. Kể từ đó, nhiều tác phẩm của bà đã được 13 Viện Bảo tàng Nghệ thuật Quốc gia trên thới giới  như Việt Nam, Ấn Độ, Trung Quốc, Mông Cổ, Singapore, Ba Lan, Rumania, Mondova, Tây Ban Nha và Thụy Điển. Qua 1.800 bức tranh, và 85 cuộc triển lãm cá nhân, họa sĩ Văn Dương Thành đã truyền cảm hứng cho công chúng yêu nghệ thuật trong và ngoài nước, đặc biệt là sinh viên và trẻ em, người khuyết tật. Nghệ thuật của Văn Dương Thành đã làm tăng thêm tình hữu nghị và sự hiểu biết quê hương Việt Nam đối với bạn bè quốc tế. Nhiều sáng tác của bà đã được Nhà nước tuyển chọn làm quà tặng quốc gia cho nhiều vị nguyên thủ.

She was the first Vietnamese who was selected into the program International Excellence of Arts of CFMI - Snecma, USA - France twice in 1995 and 1997 and "Glory of Vietnam" 2007 in Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), Awarded by Women Leaders International Networking in 2018 - 2019.

Van Duong Thanh's art has increased the friendship and understanding of the Vietnamese with international friends. Many of her works have been selected to be national gifts to heads of state, such as President Barack Obama, President Jimmy Carter, US Supreme Court Judges Ruth Bader Ginsburg, H.E.
